TekTrakker Goal #1 - Actionable Management Metrics 

Any organization can calculate MTBF for itself, in theory. Most organizations have been frustrated in their attempts to self-organize their systems and data to yield actionable results.  TekTrakker provides the external data management that is essential to a measurement program without any need for process changes, software installation, or training.

TekTrakker externally provides the advantages of standards. Within an enterprise, or within a group, standards need to be adopted in order to make comparisons. Standards must include how equipment is categorized, how products are called out, how vendors are named, plus standards for spelling and syntax.  TekTrakker has adopted standards easily understood by all users which form the basis for access by any individual user or group of users.

TekTrakker adds the advantage of sharing and comparing the performance of the same product in various locations, between subsidiaries, or between peers. With a wider view of performance comes the ability to compare product options not already in use, compare the performance of service teams, and for compare the impact of environment either indoor or outdoor.

TekTrakker Design Principles

From the outset TekTrakker was designed to be easy to use. Inputs to TekTrakker should come from existing and readily available databases with no manual effort needed other than to forward a report. TekTrakker was intentionally written as a "cloud" service so that there are no agents to install, no software to install, and no changes to processes or procedures.

Also key to design was attention to data privacy and respect for vendors. TekTrakker has avoided requesting data that might be under non-disclosure. Everything reported to TekTrakker is private and accessible only to the client or client group. TekTrakker does not publish any data and is carefully vendor neutral with no direct data entry from any vendor and no vendor investors.

As a further protection for data quality - all data is processed by TekTrakker to our standard. Data cleaning and conforming is performed offline and any supplemental or extraneous data is removed prior to being included in the database.  

TekTrakker History:

TekTrakker was developed by former technology vendors to help former customers compare products on the basis of reliability. Having represented most major IT vendors providing hardware, operating software, and associated services they were acutely aware of the transformational advantages such data would bring to managers. Understanding the marketing, pricing, and competitive positioning of the IT vendors they had represented, they set out to create actionable measurements of reliability and make them available to the industry.

TekTrakker was fully developed and available for production use in early 2009. In 2010 TekTrakker was merged with North River Technology Solutions, LLC reflecting the withdrawal of Susan M. Gaines from active management. TekTrakker is a registered trademark of North River Technology Solutions, LLC and is 100% woman-owned, woman-run.
